Attorney Mark Edward Skandier is a member of the Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and  Virgin Islands Bar Associations.  He began his legal career working for a private family-office investment company, created to serve a well-known billionaire.  He was born and raised in Methuen, Massachusetts, and attended St. John's Prep, where he captained the wrestling team, attained Academic All-American status, and graduated in the National Honor Society.  After attending Providence College and UMass, Attorney Skandier began teaching history, economics, and leadership at Lawrence High School, while coaching local high school wrestling teams.  At the age of 24, Attorney Skandier left Massachusetts for almost 10 years -- time he spent at Vermont Law School, and working in the US Virgin Islands.

After leaving the billionaire's family-office, where he worked predominantly with private equity, and Trusts, Attorney Skandier joined a firm in the Virgin Islands which advised high-net-worth clients on various business and estate-related topics.  He advised clients on Virgin Islands' tax-incentive programs; corporate formation, governance, and compliance; international banking laws, and estate/tax planning.  Before opening his firm, Private Wealth Counsel, Attorney Skandier worked closely with one of the preeminent estate & business planning attorneys in the country.  During this time, he narrowed his focus to estate planning, medicaid planning, and business advice for families of all make-ups. 

Attorney Skandier has spoken at numerous conferences and events, including the Quinnipiac University Annual Tax Conference (hosted by UBS), the Merrimack Valley Estate Planning Council, and at numerous organizations throughout Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.  He continuously offers free continuing education courses to financial advisors and CPAs, who have come to rely on him as a trusted advisor.  Attorney Skandier has also published articles, including in the internationally recognized Society of Trust & Estate Practitioners Journalwhich boasts over 20,000 members across 95 countries. STEP's members span 95 countries--and include lawyers, accountants and other trust and estate specialists.
